Endless distraction – the internet effects your brain

As more and more usual I found this nice animation video by coincidence. Don’t ask me how! I was searching for something else related to online advertising technology stuff and… muhahahahaaaa… here we go again: “Bugger! Damn you Internet!”

While the (mobile) internet allows us to do more than ever, all that potential productivity comes with a price: endless distraction. I know from a lot of personal discussions that’s getting more and more an issue for the people and sometimes for me too. WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Google Hangouts, FourSquare, IRC, Instagram, E-Mail and all these other web- and communication services… Bam! Bam! Sometimes I feel a bit like “being hunted”.

This video from the mid of 2013 created by the people from Epipheo illustrates the kind of long-term effects the frenetic pace of the web can have on your mind… and mine too.

Our attention is limited, and understanding its value is vital for remaining productive. If you happen to feel that you’re finding it harder to focus than you used to, or just long to improve, don’t worry — you should be able to fix that. How? I guess this would be a very nice serie for my blog.

On the other hand I know that there are already a couple of good instructions out there in the web how you can “optimize” yourself. I rather collect for you some links than re-write the same things twice.

February 2014 – advertising market in Germany grows

Numbers & figuresAloud Nielsen the advertising market in Germany grows by 3.2% (gross) in the first to month of 2014 and sums up to 3.8 billion EUR. The winner is TV advertising (+6.8%), followed by Internet (+4.3%) and Mobile (+33%). Also advertising in magazines reached (surprisingly for me) a plus by 2.5%. On the downward slope are Newspapers (-2.5%), Radio (-0.8%) and Cinema (-8.8%).
